Welcome to the home of the Blanchardstown Brass Band, Dublin, one of the oldest bands in Ireland. The band have been performing at events and venues around Dublin and beyond for almost 200 years now. After being established in 1826 as the St. Brigid’s Brass & Reed Band, the name was changed in 1971 to reflect the all-brass nature of the band.

We are always on the look out for new players, especially experienced players, who may be interested in joining, just visit the ‘Contact Us’ page for further details or use the contact form below.

The band is committed to fostering an interest in brass music in the youth of the community and we regularly run juvenille beginner classes, again just visit the ‘Contact Us’ page for further details.

Brass for Blanchardstown Action Together – A Community Adult Learning Music Project

Blanchardstown Brass Band in partnership with Fingal County Council Community Development Office are soon to launch an exciting Music Training Programme for adults living in Dublin 15.

The music lessons, along with the Brass Instruments, sheet music and other materials, will be provided free of charge!! Music lessons will take place weekly in the Bandroom located in Blanchardstown Village and will be provided by experienced members of the Band, led by the Musical Director, Zdenek Ondrousek.

The focus of this project is to give the participants the opportunity to learn to play an instrument and to share the joy of group music-making as the current & past members of the Band have done now for nearly 200 years. On completion of the project, participants will get the opportunity to join forces with the full Band at a special celebratory concert in Draiocht in November.

Sinead Wiley Senior Community Officer said ‘Fingal County Council are delighted to be part of Brass for Blanchardstown Action Together Community project and to have the opportunity to build on a strong music tradition currently existing in Dublin 15. This is a community engagement initiative that will develop well-being, build friendships and develop healthy and creative communities. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have on all those involved.

Remember, this initiative is open to all adults within Dublin 15 – young and old! Experienced or a total novice! It’s never too late to learn a musical instrument and this is a great opportunity.

Come along and give it a try – you might just surprise yourself!
