January 3rd 2008: Blanchardstown Brass Band appear on TG4
Ireland's oldest band, the Blanchardstown Brass Band, made a special appearence on Ireland's Irish language television station, TG4, yesterday evening. The band appeared at 7.30pm on the station's popular "Sile" programme. Sile & co were on hand to film the band at one of their performances in the IFSC over Christmas. Sile gave a brief history of the band and after a quick introduction the band performed "Winter Wonderland", all of which was broadcast on national television!
This wasn't the band's first appearence on television, the band were guests of Mike Murphy on RTE's "Live Mike" show in the 80s on a few occasions. The band have also featured on many news bulletins on RTE & TV3 over the years and appeared in the final scene of the Peter Ustinov classic fillm "The Purple Taxi". |
