PAST PERFORMANCES 2020

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all of the bands in-person performaces for 2020 have been unable to go ahead. However, the band and its members have been involved in a number of online performances and events throughout the year.

April: Three of our members took part in the Irish Association of Brass and Concert Band’s Online Solo Competition – Our conductor Zdenek Ondrousek played Jean Baptiste Arban’s ‘Carnival of Venice’ on Euphonium, his 10 year old daughter Emilia played ‘Puppets Dance’ by Philip Sparke on cornet and our Eb bass player Jean Jose Garcia Molina played the utterly bonkers ‘Memes Compilation’ which contains music from Mr. Saxobeat, Game of Thrones, The Next Episode, Hedwigs Theme (Harry Potter), The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Lucid Dreams, Rasputin and Ievan Polka.

May & July: Our Soprano Cornet player Anthony McCarthy took part in Diverse Brass’ online recordings of All My Loving and Daydream Believer.

Friday 5th June: Our cornet players Katja Manning and Anthony McCarthy took part in the online Whit Friday Whit Spirit Movie 2.8 – ‘To Saddleworth with Love’.

Sunday 21st June: As part of “Ode To Joy – Óid don Lúcháire”, a nationwide musical tribute to the country’s frontline workers on European Music Day, we performed Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” outside Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, along with The Dawning, March Slaidburn and Queen’s Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Saturday 4th July: We took part in the South of Ireland Band Championships Virtual Concert with our performance of Crazy Little Thing Called Love with pictures of the band from the 2019 contest.

July: Our performances of The Second Waltz and Old Comrades were featured in Fingal County Council’s Community Activities online offering.

August: Photos of the band in the first uniform from 1959/2009 and their story were included in the Snapshots of Fingal Past online exhibition for Heritage Week 2020.

Friday 18th September: We took part in Fingal Libraries Virtual Festival for Culture Night 2020, with performances of Crazy Little Thing Called Love, James Bond Theme and Mood Indigo.
