Easter Sunday at Farmleigh turned out to a beautiful, sunny, cold but snowless day! As is now an annual tradition, there were a series of events going on around the house and grounds of this lovely estate. There were food and plant markets, a falcon show, puppet shows, Easter egg hunts, face painting and of course, musical entertainment!
At around 2 o’clock the band took up their usual position in the centre of the main garden, accompanied by some members (and good friends) of the Stedfast Shoes Brass Band, Carrickmacross. We were under the baton of their conductor Mark, owing to the absence of Zdenek, who was away on holidays! He did a wonderful job as did both bands. This was evidence in the numbers who came, listened (some for the entire 2 hours!) despite the biting cold wind. At one point towards the end of our performance it was actually standing room only!
